AI Interaction Disclosure
Required disclosure for AI-powered features on Bishop Family
Important: You may be talking to an AI
When you interact with historical person avatars or the World Guide on this platform, you are communicating with an artificial intelligence system, not a real person.
What is the AI Avatar feature?
AI Avatars are conversational agents that represent historical family members. They are powered by large language models (Cloudflare Workers AI and/or Anthropic's Claude) and are designed to respond based on the biographical data available for that person in our archive.
What AI cannot do
- AI responses are generated — they do not reflect genuine memories, feelings, or real historical knowledge
- AI avatars may produce inaccurate historical information even when constrained to biographical data
- AI cannot verify genealogical facts — only human contributors and approved sources can do that
- AI responses are not professional genealogical, legal, medical, or historical advice
How to identify AI interactions
Every AI avatar conversation displays a persistent banner reading: "You are talking with an AI representation of [Name]. Responses are generated and may not reflect historical fact."
AI and children
AI features for users under 18 require explicit parental approval. Minors' AI conversations are subject to content filtering and parental review capabilities. See our Children's Privacy Policy for details.
Data use
Conversations with AI avatars may be analyzed to identify useful historical information, which can then be added to the archive knowledge base with your consent and subject to review. See our Privacy Policy for details on data use.
AI providers
- Cloudflare Workers AI — Llama 3.1 8B model, runs at the network edge
- Anthropic Claude — used for complex queries when Cloudflare AI is insufficient
Use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.
Feedback and corrections
If an AI avatar produces clearly incorrect or harmful content, please report it via the contribution pipeline or by emailing privacy@xops360.com.
